Why "A Big Horse"? At 18.3 hands and 16 stone 1 - I think it fits well. I have set all PRs > 200 pounds, with the exception of my 24 hour race PR = 195. June 2003 I was > 300 pounds. Since then I have run 25+ marathons (2:45 PR), 4-50ks, 6 - 50 mile races and 8 - 24 hour races (154.48 mile PR) This blog will be about my training, but also about my daily / weekly struggles and victories in life. Current Big Horse Weight = 17 stone 7

I still haven't found what I am looking for
I believe in the Kingdom Come
Then all the colors will bleed into one
Bleed into one
But, yes, I'm still running ....
You broke the bonds
And you loosed the chains
Carried the cross of my shame
Oh, my shame, you know I believe it

Nothing much has changed and yet many things have changed.
I am wrestling with the future and trying to break free from the past.
My hip and back (March 3rd ski crash) are about the same, but I have only recently started to try and strengthen the injured areas. Weight is still very high (235) and my fitness very low = a lot of run / walking. A few weeks back my good freind Richard and I hit a low point at about the same time and we have re-issued a fitness / weight loss challenge bet from years past. Funny we both weighed in at 241# that morning and reached out of the blue reached out to each other.
Between now and January 31st - I have my rules of engagement that should drive some consistency in my daily routine.
What am I looking for?
A return to the origins of running for me? I started running to increase general fitness that would support all the other activities I love. But it is hard to break the bonds of trying to focus on running and racing. I guess we will see how the next 4-6 months play out. Can I learn to run for fun?
Good running to all!

I'm thinking about an all-out go-for-broke one-last-race-and-retire shot at FANS next year. I need to develop a team to help get me there. Are you in?
ReplyDeleteSorry for the delay in answering ~ I do not come to my blog but a few times a week. My current plan is to run FANS myself ~ So I will not be able to help if that stands.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking after taking this year off from training ~ That I will find a little more fire in my belly to train and health in my body to withstand training in 2014.
It’s really rare when you come through something like this and like to think over it again and again. Good work cheers.
ReplyDeleteYou need to be fit always. Thats an amazing article. You are a motivation to the readers to think differently.
