Break from Running / Blogging

The reason I started this blog was to show my Clydesdale brothers and Athena sisters that we do not have to have a runner's body to succeed in this sport.  My dream was that I might inspire a couple of people to start the journey and enjoy running.

I have only run twice since my last post (Ash Wednesday).

I have decided to take a break from being public about my life.  I have not been on the running communities I frequent.

I have no idea what path I will follow next.

I am a physical person and will do physical things.  I will run ... I might train.  After a 3 week break, I am wiping the 2013 plan clean.  I may write a new one, I may not.

I do need to start doing something as I have already gained 7-8 pounds ... only 2 months until swimsuit weather :)

I am not sure if I will blog again ... Probably, just much less frequently.

I appreciate all of your support.

  1. Hey Mike I too a big guy too (6'6" 285#) and love this blog and the reason I love it is exactly the same as what your purpose for having it. I always knew I could finish ultras, but never realized I could finish fast until I heard about you and found your blog.

    Thought you should know.

  4. Mike, of the times we've run together at Glacial Trail 2006/50M and 2011/50K, I thoroughly enjoyed that experience. You've motivated me to run faster. What you've done in the past 5-6 years is amazing, and to make the 24 Hour team flat out awesome stuff.

I will tell you we all go through these points in our running life when the so called "burnout" hits. And really there is nothing we can do about it but let time pass.

I know with down time you will be back stronger my friend.
